There are a couple reasons why your diffuser may not be properly scenting your space, but we can help you diagnose the issue.
First, check to make sure that your diffuser is on (with the power cord inserted flush with the diffuser) and working properly by increasing the scent level and listening for Aera’s motor. As you hear the motor, check to see if you can smell fragrance beside the diffuser by waving fragrance towards your nose with an open hand.
The airflow in a room and where the Aera diffuser is placed can have a significant impact on your scenting experience. There are many variables that affect airflow such as windows, doors, and heating or cooling vents. The best location for Aera is where it takes advantage of your room’s natural airflow. Follow these steps to find the ideal spot:
- Stand near the location you’d like to place your Aera diffuser.
- Light a candle or match for a moment then blow it out.
- Note the direction that the smoke travels.
- Does the smoke move towards the area you want to scent? Great. If not, choose another location and test again.
If you do not smell fragrance even while standing above your diffuser, check to make sure that the red plug atop the fragrance capsule is removed. If it has not been removed, the capsule is sealed and pressurized. Do not remove the red plug while your fragrance capsule is inserted into the diffuser. Eject the fragrance capsule from your diffuser and then carefully remove the red plug over a sink or garbage can (fragrance may leak).
